Remnants of the Lehman Brothers art collection will go on sale at Sotheby’s in September, Â 2010. Â Included will be the painting, “Shakespeare Actress,” by John Currins. The liquidators hope to raise $10 million.
A smaller sale of the bankrupt company’s art holdings was held last October in Philadelphia, raising $1.35 million. The proceeds go to creditors still owed billions of dollars. Also on the block will be an early work by Damian Hirst and Gerhard Richter. Â One art advisor to Lehman called the offering a “visionary” collection.
