The painter Tamara de Lempicka came roaring out of the 1920’s with her Art Deco styled nudes to become lionized in Parisian art circles. One of her sensual paintings, “Nu adossé I,” was shown in a 1925 Milan exhibit, but then disappeared. The work has re-emerged and Sotheby’s will offer it in early May with a high estimate of $5m.The owner says he bought the painting years ago, liked its style, hung it in his home, and only recently discovered t it was a much sought after Lempicka original. The revelation coincided with a growing interest in the painter whose works are now selling in the millions. Last year one of her paintings went for a record $8.5m.
