In 1964, while the Beatles were staying at the Plaza Hotel in New York, George Harrison gave a copy of the group’s first album “Meet the Beatles” to the hotel’s house doctor, Jules Gordon. Signed by all four members of the band, it will be offered at Heritage’s Music & Entertainment auction on December 13th, , when it’s expected to sell for more than $75,000.
Among the other highlights at the sale is a collection of 1951-1955 legal documents signed six times by Marilyn Monroe. More than $30,000 is expected for papers, which relate primarily to her employment at 20th Century Fox. Another item likely to interest collectors is a John Wayne screen-worn jacket from the 1960 movie, “The Alamo,” in which he played Davy Crockett. It’s expected to fetch over $20,000.
