RM Auctions calls the M16 the “most recognizable gun in film history.” It’s one of the two weapons Al Pacino wielded in “Scarface” complete with the grenade launcher (“my little friend“) that Tony found so useful. Say hello!” he memorably commanded before blasting away. Also used in Arnold Schwartznegger’s “Terminator” and offered at auction for the first time, the gun is listed without estimate.
Among other items in the sale, there’s a rare letter by J.D. Salinger, which has a presale estimate of $10-$15,000, Clint Eastwood’s blank revolver from “The Outlaw Josey Wales,”(estimated at $5-$10,000), and a single hairpin owned by Marilyn Monroe. It carries no estimate, although her silver salt and pepper shakers are expected to sell for $3-$6,000.
