Although the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance won’t be happening until August, the lineup for Gooding and Company’s marquis auction at the event is falling into place. Two highlights at the sale will be a 1955 Maserati A6G/54 Frua Berlinetta from the collection of Jay Kay, lead singer of the popular band Jamiroquai (est. $1.5-$2m), and a 1938 Bugatti Type 57C Stelvio once owned by Prince Louis Napoleon (est, $1.3m-$1.6m).Prince Louis, the grandson of Napoleon’s nephew, reportedly owned almost three dozen Bugattis during his lifetime. He bought this one, his last before leaving for World War II service, under the pseudonym of Louis De Montfort. With matching numbers, it still has the Cotal gearbox and Houdaille shock absorbers that Prince Louis specified. Jay Kay’s Maserati, in turn, has won Best of Show at Salon Prive and has raced the Mille Miglia Storica. This will be its first time at auction.
