Prices Soar At Scottsdale Classic Car Auctions
January 21, 2013Little doubt remained about the extraordinary vitality of the vintage car market after the results at the multiple auctions that took place this past weekend in and around Scottsdale, Arizona. Gooding & Co. led the final tallies with a total of $52.5m, paced by the sale of a 1958 Ferrari 250GT LWB California Spider for $8.25m. With six of the weekend top 10 sales, Gooding’s result was up 31% over last year’s sale, a pattern of growth that almost all the Scottsdale events mirrored.

January 18, 2013Corvette fans will get a shot a owning the very first production example of the iconic sports car’s redesigned 2013 edition when it comes up for auction this weekend at Barrett Jackson’s massive event in Scottsdale, Arizona. The proceeds from the sale of the car with a VIN ending in 0001 will benefit the College for Creative Studies in Detroit. GM’s John Fitzpatrick said he wouldn’t be disappointed if the Corvette, which will start at about $50,000 when it goes on sale later this year, “went for a million.”

January 23, 2012A 1964 white Cadillac hearse that carried the body of assassinated President John F. Kennedy sold this weekend at a Scottsdale, Arizona auction for $176,000. The car, offered at a Barrett Jackson event, transported JFK’s body and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis from Parkland Memorial Hospital to Dallas Love Field, where Air Force One waited.
