Ozzie Smith Clears His Mantle, Sells 13 Trophies
December 03, 2012Many baseball fans, particularly in St. Louis, will tell you there never has been anyone like Ozzie Smith at shortstop. The National League agreed and awarded him 13 consecutive Golden Glove trophies before he retired in 1996. Instead of forever cluttering his mantle, he sold all of them in one lot yesterday for $520,000.

November 17, 2010The bat that former Dodger Kirk Gibson used to hit his home run in the 1988 World Series has sold for $575,912 at SCP Auctions. In all, a father-son collector team from Santa Barbara paid $1.19 million for five items related to Gibson, including his L.A. Dodgers jersey ($303,277), batting helmet ($153,389), National League MVP Award ($110,293), and World Series trophy ($45,578).
