$600-$700,000 for a motorcycle? That’s the estimate a 1925 prototype Brough Superior SS100 Alpine Grand Sport will carry in Phillips de Pury’s December 15th auction in New York. If the Brough sells in that range it will be the highest price ever realized for a motorcycle at auction.
The historic bike was owned and raced by George Brough himself. The design was a favorite of  T.E. Lawrence, aka Lawrence of Arabia, who owned seven. It will be featured at a sale Phillips is calling Design Masters, which includes works by Carlo Bugatti, Le Courbusier, Ruhlmann, and Marc Newson, among others.
