Three luxurious mountain lodges in Vail’s Beaver Creek and an oceanfront estate in Maui are among the estates heading towards auction in coming weeks. Read more in our high-end real estate roundup.
Beaver Creek’s ski slopes are only minutes away from a Colorado showplace built in 2008 that’s headed towards auction. Once you cross a private bridge over Lake Creek, other entertainments in this mountain retreat, once listed for $21.5m, are even closer at hand. There’s an indoor pool, a sauna, an exercise room, a game room, and a media room. The lodge’s 12,586sf include 8 bedrooms, and 9.5 baths. The appointments are what you’d expect in an establishment of this scale–it was once listed for $21.5m– with stone fireplaces, vaulted ceilings, extensive patios and decks. Lake Creek runs through the 23-acre grounds (there’s an adjacent 14-acre lot as well) and there’s a stocked trout pond as well. Should exercising the private fishing rights begin to pale, the property features hiking and cross-country trails. The starting bid at the auction, scheduled for December 19-23 will be $3.995m, with a five-day closing period, just in time for the tail end of the holiday.
A short distance away, also in Beaver Creek, two newly constructed homes are also coming on the block. The first is within walking distance of Vail Village and Lionshead. Originally listed for $13.95m, the modern design has 6 bedrooms and 6.5 baths in 6290sf. As the price might indicate, there are high-level finishes throughout the open plan layout, with custom wood and stone work and expansive glass windows. An elevator’s available to shuttle you through the house’s three levels, which include a ski room and bunk room, as well as media and exercise rooms. The house, which sits on a 29,185sf lot, will require a $6.995m opening bid at its auction, scheduled for December 19-23.
The second new house is just down the road. The modern design is a bit smaller, with 4 bedroom and 5.5 baths on a 20,778sf lot. Originally listed at $9.95m, It, too, has custom cabinetry, a gourmet kitchen, wood detailing, and generous use of slate. In its layout are a media room, bar and exercise room, and elevator, as well as extensive outdoor decks An architectural glass railing staircase and catwalk leads to the three upstairs bedrooms. The master suite has its own fireplace and balcony. The house will have a starting bid of $4.95 million at its auction, which is to take place from December 19-23.
Should a tropical setting seem more appealing, an oceanfront estate in Maui will be offered next month at auction. It’s located on the western part of the island, along the Kahana-Napili coast. The 5662sf main house, which has 5 bedrooms and 5.5 baths, features a variety of exotic finishes, including hand-carved teak, Africa Mahogany, Restored Red Wood, Noche Night Travertine Tile, Black Granite, Basalt Rock, and Indian Black Slate. Pitched ceilings and picture windows enhance the sense of space. Among the other appointments in the main house are a gourmet kitchen with antique Chinese island and a walk-in wine room. In addition there’s a guest house with kitchen and bath. The grounds include an entry water feature, a 2,498sf Lanai, a heated Lagoon Pool with Spa, and a Lava rock outdoor shower. Within walking distance of a sandy beach, the estate auction will take place on January 17.
