As in all good mysteries, you never know what’s behind the bookcase. In this case, Christie’s is auctioning 2000 bottles of rare whiskey found in a vault concealed behind a bookcase in an Italian villa. They were labeled, “for medicinal use” and had been hidden for many years.
A total of 216 lots will be put up on Oct.21, 2010, in London. Christie’s says it’s the largest private collection of whisky it has ever offered, emphasizing a selection of single malts ranging across the great Scotland distilleries in addition to gin and cognac.
