A vintage Patek Philippe wristwatch is expected to fetch as much as $500,000 at Antiquorum’s New York watch sale on March 10th. Sold by Cartier in 1950 and in exceptional condition today, the reference 2419 18K yellow gold watch has an oversized crown, repeaters slide and subsidiary seconds display.
Another rare offering is a recent Jaeger-Lecoultre platinum “Reverso Gyrotourbillon 2” (est. $220,000-$270,000), one of a limited edition of 75. Fans of Patek Philippe will also be interested in the 2002 “Celestial Wristwatch,” ref. 5102 on offer (est. $180,000-$200,000). The 18k white gold wristwatch is full-featured, to say the least, displaying mean time indication, a nocturnal sky chart of the Northern Hemisphere, moon phases and moon orbit and time of the meridian passage of Sirius and moon. It also presumably tells time.
